We know that the journey of your child’s school life begins with us and we are determined to give all of our children the best possible start and allow them to realise their full potential.

We pride ourselves on our safe, secure and happy children who learn and play in a caring, fun environment.

We are a teacher-led team of experienced and dedicated Early Years professionals based fully within Captain Cook Primary School.

Our bustling Nursery offers a choice of morning, afternoon or 30 hours places (for eligible families), Term time, Monday to Friday:

  • Morning Nursery 8.30-11.30
  • Afternoon Nursery 12.30-15.30
  • 30 hours 8.30 – 15.00

We have designed and developed an exciting EYFS curriculum with our children at the heart of it with stimulating content based on children’s own interests.

We have a dynamic learning space where careful consideration is given to experiential and investigative learning through play, and delivered across both our indoor and outdoor classrooms.

It is extremely important to us that our children feel safe, secure, integrated and part of our Nursery family, so we invest considerable time in the Prime Areas of Learning:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language

Through spending time with our young people, getting to know them though play and quality interactions, we are able to carefully develop their individual skills and knowledge and follow into the Specific areas of learning which are:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

We have high expectations for all and run a seamless Reception readiness programme to prepare children for full time school. Our EYFS results are consistently above National scores.

We carefully monitor each child’s progress through our Observation Checkpoints where we can quickly identify any areas of need and support your child to meet their full potential, whatever their starting points.   We are well supported by a network of Early Years health professionals and experts who can help us where there any specific issues or areas of special educational need.
